Windows 11 now integrates with Office on mobile devices
Little by little, Windows 11 is starting to receive new features. The latest version of the operating system has tools to continue the work one was doing with Office on a smartphone and better organise the folders in the Start menu.
One of the new features is the extension of the recent Phone Linkwhich connects the operating system to Android smartphones. Phone Link is now available in China through an agreement with Honor, whose Magic V , Magic4 and Magic3 smartphones are the first with the new connection, with other models to follow later. In this way, Microsoft expands its alliances to bring the app natively to devices of other brands such as Samsung.
Recent apps show the last three that were opened on the smartphone and suggest accessing them on the desktop. This is a useful way to facilitate integration.
If you were using Office Mobile, you can now quickly open the same file in Office directly on your computer and preview it in the browser.
In addition, the Windows 11 release must be 1.22022.60.0 or later, and the Office Mobile release must be 16.0.14931.20106 or later. Finally, both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network and the documents must be saved on OneDrive.
The new features are part of build 22579, released on Friday, 18 March on the developer channel of the Windows Insider programme. The update also includes new USB drive encryption features, popular site suggestions for the taskbar and bug fixes. If all goes well, these should soon be available to all Windows 11 users.
Windows arrived on 5 October 2021, we talked about it here.
