Broadband to at least 95% of the buildings in the canton of Ticino by 2037

The objective of encouraging the connection of at least 95% of buildings to ultra-wideband over the next 15 years was presented by the State Council at a press conference on 14 March 2022.

Ultra-wideband refers to very high-speed fibre-optic transmissions in the access network up to the end user (e.g. 1Gbit). In this case, the idea is to use a mix of fixed and wireless (Fixed Wireless Access) infrastructure to best meet the needs of different regions.

The government has proposed a framework credit of up to 95 million Swiss francs.
