Samsung makes its Smart Monitor M8 'intelligent' display available

First unveiled at CES 2022 and winner of the CES Innovation Award the Samsung Smart Monitor M8 comes with all the necessary tools to be used in a home office environment without using a PC. This is possible because of the ability it has to connect to various IT devices through the Smart Hub. Through the "Workspace" user interface it provides all the services needed to work on a screen, helping users connect wirelessly to a Windows PC or Mac and efficiently use a wide range of useful functions: These include Samsung DeX, Apple AirPlay 2 and Microsoft 365 cloud services, as well as mirroring content from the smartphone to the M8.

But let's come to the specifications. The monitor has a VA-type LCD screen with 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), 16:9 aspect ratio and 60Hz refresh rate. The M8 supports HDR10+ and covers 99% of the sRGB color spectrum.

The monitor has two 5 W speakers and comes with the SlimFit 1080p wireless removable webcam. SlimFit Cam has face detection and automatic zoom functions, which quickly identify the user's face and focus on it.

TheM8 's microphone is high-sensitivity Far Field Voice and supports voice commands from Samsung's Bixby and Amazon's Alexa assistants. The microphone also has the Always On Voice feature, which shows Bixby conversation information on the screen even when it is turned off.

In terms of software, Smart Monitor M8 comes with Tizen OS and can be used as a control center for various smart home appliances. The inputs are one micro HDMI and two USB-C inputs. The monitor offers Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity, and one of the USB-C ports allows cell phones and notebooks to be charged at 65W.

Finally, the Smart Monitor M8 is only 11.4 mm thick and weighs 9.4 kg. Samsung Smart Monitor M8 is available for preorder from April 4 in Warm White, Sunset Pink, Daylight Blue and Spring Green colors.
